How does psychotherapy or counseling help?

Several research studies have validated that psychotherapy is generally effective in helping people of all ages improve their emotional well-being, enhance their way of relating to other people, and make desired changes in behavior.  There are a number of ways that psychotherapy or counseling helps.  Psychotherapy provides a caring, confidential environment in which to talk about your current concerns and reflect on desired life changes.  Additionally, your therapist can help you to understand how patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving have developed over time, and suggest specific changes to help you lead a more fulfilled life. 

Does Center for Positive Change, LLC offer online counseling sessions?

Absolutely. We offer both telephone counseling and video counseling sessions to clients who prefer online to in-person appointments. 

Does Center for Positive Change, LLC offer psychiatry services like medication management?

No, but we can provide you with a list of providers that do.

What is a professional counselor, LPC, LCPC, LPCC, LMHC?

A professional counselors a masters-or PhD-level mental health professional who is approved by a state licensure board to diagnose and treat mental health disorders.  For example, a professional counselor might help a client overcome depression or anxiety.  In addition, a professional counselor can help clients with non-medical issues like helping a couple better communicate and therapy improve their relationship.  The exact name of a professional counselor’s license can vary by state but some of the most common are: Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).

Yes! Contact us to find out if we accept your specific insurance. 

What are your fees?

Fees range from $125 - $175.  

As a new client, do I need to complete intake paperwork?

Yes you will need to complete new patient forms that are found within the Theraplatform website.  If you are unable to access the online portal, you can print off and scan and email them or bring them to your first in-person session.   Please complete the forms in their entirety and sign all places requesting signatures.

How long do sessions usually last? 

We offer 45-minute to 60-minute sessions. Length of session may be pre-determined by your insurance coverage. 

What is your late cancellation/no show policy? 

The full cancellation fee of $100 is charged for all booked appointments unless we receive cancellation notice at least 24 business hours in advance of the scheduled appointment.
